Sewing is not really my passion, but when my kids wanted their Halloween costumes just so, I decided to give it a shot and set about buying a sewing machine. This proved more daunting than the actual sewing! You really can’t do much without a good machine right? So I decided to select three of the best for you to choose from.
Brother CS6000i Feature-Rich Sewing Machine
Truly feature rich I found this machine can give you up to 60 different types of stitches with 7 different types of buttonholes alone! What’s more each stitch has multiple functions. And the LCD selector makes the selection super easy! The machine comes with quilting mechanism which is an added bonus. You can push start or use the foot pedal as you wish – and there’s a speed controller that allows you to select your speed. The dreaded tasks of threading the needle, winding the bobbin, and cutting the thread are automated. You can sew just about any material including fleece and elastic fabric on the CS6000i. And there is a storage space so you have your threads and needles handy.
The machine is light in weight, easily portable and ships with a limited warranty of 25 years.
Brother XR9500PRW Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine
This one is for pros with a hundred built in utilities, multiple stitch functions, 7mm zigzag and many other decorative stitches. There is an LCD to help you program your sewing. Its quilting table is big though so you may need a lot of space – and you can forget lugging it around. It requires 120 Volt AC power and wont work on other specs even if you use an adapter.
Brother Project Runway PC420PRW, Professional Grade Com1puterized Sewing Machine
With a speed of 850 stitches per minute, this is another one for pros, but the homely kind. The machine ships complete with a set of accessories and an 11 presser feet. There is an LED screen for selection with an inbuilt lighting system to make your work easy. You can adjust the pressure to suit your need. Of course threading and spooling are automated. You have a choice of 294 stitches in 10 different styles, 3 styles for lettering and an automated buttonhole sizing system. The machine comes with a limited warranty of 25 years, and toll-free support. Once again, make sure you have a 120V alternating current because adapters won’t work.
As far as sewing machines go, there is a plethora of machines available for purchase. I’ve selected three of the best but if you are particular, you can visit the site for more info and take your pick. Happy Sewing!
